Have you ever been to White Lyan? I haven’t, but I came across Bow & Arrow’s packaging for a new limited-edition bottled cocktail range from Mr Lyan, which will be sold exclusively at Selfridges. After falling in love with the packaging design I was eager to find out who Mr Lyan was…
It turns out that White Lyan is an exclusive and unique cocktail bar set up in Hoxton late last year. It is the world’s first cocktail bar to not use a single perishable item – no ice or fruit. White Lyan opened up under the brand Mr Lyan and uses innovative mixology to create their cocktails. Focusing on the standardisation of taste, the spirits used to make Mr Lyan cocktails are sourced directly from distilleries and then altered on site to achieve the desired flavour. This means that White Lyan solely stock their own-brand, pre-mixed cocktails – Mr Lyan. Sounds impressive, right?!
These wonderfully, innovative cocktails will be readily available to buy and enjoy at home! Have a look at the beautifully designed packaging by Bow and Arrow. The illustrations reflect the hand-made nature of the drinks. Ryan Chetiywardana (the man behind the business) has drawn the illustrations himself – cleverly capturing the cocktail name or ingredient. My favourite has to be the ladybird with no spots for Spotless Martini!
